Weekly(ish) Photo Essay: Hiking Above Sikoro

Last week Nick (the other newly-arrived intern) and I took a hike up the hill behind Sikoro, the town where the clinic.

On the way we passed some animals. Some were just chillin'.

 A local medicine man.

We pseudo-rock climbed up the rocky part of the hill and stopped to take in the view.

Thursday was laundry day, so all the women were out washing and laying out the clothes to dry.

We got to spy inside people's houses from above!

A woman preparing the evening meal.

A happy little goat.

Everything was so green!

All the children came out to see us and wave!

A lone tree on the horizon.

That beige building in the center is the clinic, as seen from above.

Corrugated aluminum roofs glinting in the sunlight.

A little boy watching us from above.

Another depressed donkey. They're all so depressed looking!

Some cheerful little boys who seem inadvertently color coordinated.

This one was scared of me and ran away as I took the photo.

 More laundry.

Some kids playing in the sand.

A local elementary school.

A little cutie patootie.

And his sister hiding behind the tree.
